Evan Smith is an affiliate with Schaffer Consulting; his
affiliation with the firm began during his time as a client in the early
1990s. Trained as an industrial engineer, with a background in social
sciences and liberal arts, he has been helping organizations and leaders
to deliver measurable results by fostering successful organizational
and individual change for more than 20 years. Earlier in his career,
Evan led the Quality function for a global mid-cap chemical company. He
led the corporate Performance Management function for a U. S. regional
bank in the early 1990s during a time of restructuring; he also helped
to introduce and structure revamped business lines for the bank’s
investment services arm. Evan started his career with GE in its
aerospace business, working on the Information Systems Management
Program (ISMP).
His consulting clients have included major
pharmaceutical, medical devices, financial services, chemical,
automotive, technology, energy, and professional services companies,
among others.
He also helped to start and/or operate several small
businesses, including developing and selling revenue models and
business plans in medical devices, establishing required financial
systems and controls for several custom manufacturing businesses, and
driving business improvement, major account development, and
profitability in marketing services.
Evan has worked with clients and partners to help organizations grow
successfully, and navigate change. He’s a results-oriented leader and
consultant with broad functional experience facilitating business
growth, productivity and change/ restructuring within financial
services, technology and manufacturing companies. He’s brought
products/ services and businesses from concept through market
introduction and production. He’s also successfully implemented
business development and business restructuring initiatives to
consistently produce results.

Evan

In 2009, he developed and published a survey on “Leading Change”, a guide for change leaders and practitioners.
Evan
earned his Masters in Public and Private Management from the Yale
School of Organization and Management. He also holds Bachelor degrees
in Industrial & Management Systems Engineering, and in Liberal Arts,
from Pennsylvania State University.
Professionally, he is a
graduate of the GE - Information Systems Management Program, and has
completed Executive Management Development through Cabot Corporation –
with Harvard Business School.
